Xbox One / Win 10 controller support, new cut-scenes and shadow slider fixes.Posted on February 10, 2016
We’re releasing a new update today for Steam users on Windows for Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty. Please launch your Steam client to get the patch.
This patch addresses the following:
1. Controller support improvements for Xbox One wireless controllers and the latest Windows 10 software drivers.
We have created a new mapping for this configuration in Settings > Controls > Controller Layout. Just click the text at the top where it says “Xbox 360” and you’ll get a drop down – ‘Xbox One’ should be one of them, as shown below.
As before, if you wish to use another controller not listed, select ‘Custom’ and remap as required.
2. Shadow slider fixes.
The two shadow sliders for distance and quality have been fixed, so those players with high end PCs can now safely slide both to the maximum to get the most out of New ‘n’ Tasty.
3. Lower resolution, lower bit-rate cut-scenes.
Some players had issues with stuttering cut-scenes in the game. We have re-encoded all the cut-scenes to approximately half the bit-rate and downsampled them to 720p from 1080p. This should mean smoother playback for anyone affected.
4. One button Chant.
To further assist with specific control issues, we have enabled the ability to chant with a single button. There’s now an option at the bottom of Settings > Controls to enable this.

We will update the game for Linux and Mac in due course. Finally, for those players who downloaded the game from GOG, we will shortly be looking to update the DRM-free GOG build to replicate the latest Steam version.
