Сюжетно это продолжение Half-Life: Opposing Force — официального аддона к первой части игры от Gearbox Software. Гордон Фримен попал в беду в тюрьме строгого режима Нова Проспект. Пришельцы-вортигонты отправили ему на помощь морпеха Адриана Шепарда, главгероя Opposing Force.
