The route from Hamburg to Hanover in Germany is one of the most important railway lines in
Lower Saxony, running from the state capital of Hanover to Germany's second largest city, Hamburg, and now you can take control of your own high speed passenger train on this arterial route in Train Simulator. The main section of the route from Celle to Harburg opened on 1 May 1847. Nineteen years later, the line reached Hamburg, and by 1906 was open to Hanoverian station, today known as Hamburg Hauptbahnhof. In the early 1970s, a number of trials took place to assess the line's capability for high speed running at 200km/h. The trials proved to be a success and later that decade, a 78km (48 mile) section from Langenhagen to Uelzen was relaid to accommodate high speed trains, with the rest of the route upgraded by the end of the 1980s. Today, the 153km (95 mile) lines sees a busy mix of high speed and commuter passenger trains alongside regional and international freight trains. From the major transport hub of Hamburg, the route runs south through Harburg, Lüneburg, Uelzen and Celle. Landmarks along the route include the Metronom Depot at Uelzen, one of the company's main maintenance depots for its commuter trains, Hamburg Docks and Hanover Flughafen's underground station. South of Hamburg is also Maschen Marshalling Yard, Europe's largest such facility and the second largest freight yard in the World. Covering an area of 280 hectares, the yard is around seven kilometres long and has a total track length of 300km, handling up to 11,000 goods wagons each day. The line is probably most well-known for its record breaking feat – on 13 August 1980, locomotive 120 002 set a new world speed record of 231km/h for rotary current locomotives between Celle and Uelzen. The ER20 'Hercules' is considered to be one of the quietest and most efficient diesel locomotives currently operating in Europe, having been manufactured with up-to-date diesel engine technology and innovative sound insulation, alongside low exhaust emissions. The locomotive is also relatively unique in design, being made of as few parts as possible in a modular construction method, which makes construction and maintenance more efficient. Built by Siemens over a ten year period from 2002, the ER20 was designed to replace older freight locomotive types with lower cost maintenance and emissions. They have proved to be a popular class of locomotive, although their low production numbers – less than 100 – is only such due to the widespread electrification of Europe's rail network reducing the need for large diesel locomotive fleets. Customers in Germany, Austria, Lithuania and Hong Kong placed orders for the ER20 Eurorunner for both freight and passenger operations, including MRCE, a freight locomotive leasing company who took ownership of 15 models. This fleet of black gloss liveried locomotives can be seen today hauling multimodal freight traffic across Germany and into neighbouring European countries. The ER20 Eurorunner for Train Simulator recreates the locomotive in the striking MRCE black gloss livery and features SIFA and PZB signalling and cab control systems, centre sprung throttle and brake controls, and accompanying Zags and Shimms freight wagons. The ICE-T was developed by Siemens in parallel with the ICE 3 and ICE TD in the early 1990s, designed to operate on lines previously served by slower loco-hauled InterCity (IC) and InterRegio (IR) trains, and traditional EMUs. Assigned the project name 'IC T', with the 'T' standing for 'Triebzug' (multiple unit), the ICE-T shared many common components with the ICE 3. However, a number of exterior differences distinguish the two trainsets, including a remodelled nose profile and Italian-built tilting bogies. The ICE-T first entered service in 1994 and has capacity for 372 passengers. Although it is slower than its sister units with a top speed of 230km/h (140mph), the trainset's tilt angle of eight degrees enables it to negotiate the upgraded German railway lines with ease. The DB 411 'ICE-T' for Train Simulator is available in Deutsche Bahn red and white livery and features scripted tilting technology, improved passenger view and lighting, AFB speed control, SIFA driver vigilance system, and PZB and LZB signalling systems. In the early 1970s, Deutsche Bahn's demand for electric locomotives for passenger trains saw the development of the BR111, a successor to the Class 110 and built to accommodate faster speeds on passenger services. A total of 227 models were built in the class between 1970 and 1982, with the first locomotive delivered in December 1974. Many of the class were put into service on S-Bahn services, although with ageing locomotive stock serving Intercity routes, some were fitted for Intercity services and operated across Germany. Each of the locomotive's four axles were fitted with motors supplying 4,990hp (3,720 kW) and a top speed of 160km/h (99mph). The BR111 often operated in conjunction with a rear control car, giving push-pull capabilities on commuter services due to its ZWS remote control, operated from the locomotive. A third generation DBbzf control car is included with the BR111 for Train Simulator, alongside double-decker DBz and DAbz coaches. The BR111 for Train Simulator is available in two Deutsche Bahn liveries – Orient Red and Traffic Red - and features a DBbzf control car in mint turquoise and traffic red liveries, realistic wheel slip and sanding effects, SIFA driver vigilance device, PZB train protection system and double-decker coaches. Classified as BR 189 by Deutsche Bahn, the Class is one of only a handful equipped with all four electric systems commonly used in mainland Europe and various light formations, making it capable of running on most of Europe's rail network, including across Germany, Austria, Italy, Netherlands, Poland and Hungary. The Class was originally ordered by DB Cargo and is used primarily on freight operations with a top speed of 87mph (140 km/h). The majority of the Class has since been sold to private leasing company MRCE (formerly Dispolok), which has been many of the locomotives leased to freight operators across Europe. A number of BR 189s can now be seen across Germany, as well as into Switzerland and other neighbouring countries. The BR 189 for Train Simulator is available in the yellow and silver livery of private leasing company Dispolok, and features SIFA, PZB and LZB in-cab signalling and driver safety devices, AFB train power control, cab lights, dial lights, direct control brake (in advanced mode), and SGGRSS freight wagons. It was up until 1987 that this locomotive monopolized high speed trains in Germany. It is one of the most powerful conventional electric locomotives ever built, with a one hour rating of 10,400KW or 13,900HP. During the 1950s there was a desire to produce an electric locomotive that could operate at speeds up to 200km/h. These were unveiled at the International Transport Fair in Munich in June 1965 as the Class E.03 (which became Class 103.0 when the new numbering system was introduced). Exhibition runs operated the train between Munich and Augsburg, achieving 200km/h on a regular basis. The fastest speed recorded on a Class 103 was 283km/h (176mph). Following additional developments, the Class 103 became the backbone of the German Trans Europe Express (TEE) and Intercity lines. The long reign of the Class 103 drew to a close in 1987 with the introduction of the new InterCityExpress (ICE) trains, with the Class 103 relegated to local services with more frequent stops. A total of 17 Class 103s have been preserved, with 5 of them still in operation, 2 of which are still part of DB's fleet and often used in test runs. Following the successful introduction of the Intercity-Express system across Germany in the early 1990s, Deutsche Bahn started plans to upgrade long distance services with higher speeds and raise comfort levels for passengers, and to replace locomotive-hauled regional services. These developments resulted in three new ICE trains being built – the ICE 3, ICE T and ICE VT, the latter 'VT' standing for Verbrennungstriebwagen (internal combustion motor car). All three trains were developed alongside each other and shared common components and layout – noticeable differences on the ICE VT were its crescent-shaped bogie supports and the removal of pantographs. The ICE VT – later to be more commonly known as the ICE TD – was built by a Bombardier and Siemens consortium, and a four-car configuration chosen, without a restaurant car. The first trainset was assembled in 1998 and in 2001, all 20 units were commissioned for Deutsche Bahn and today operate on many electrified lines in Germany, despite being diesel powered. The BR 605 ICE TD for Train Simulator is available in Deutsche Bahn livery and features PZB and LZB signalling, SIFA and AFB driver vigilance devices, a tilting mechanism and passenger view. The 'Steppenpferd' ('Prairie Horse') was developed specifically for the long, flat routes in West and East Prussia between 1928 and 1940 as passenger locomotives. The Deutsche Reichsbahn soon pressed these heavy steam engines into service and they served the DR well until the outbreak of World War II. During wartime, a number of the locomotives were moved to Poland, where 34 remained after 1945 and re-classified as Oi2 by the PKP. These locomotives served until the last was withdrawn in 1976. Of the remaining locomotives, 47 were taken on by the Deutsche Bundesbahn and retired by 1968. Four locomotives were left with the DR following WWII and withdrawn from services in the 1970s. In total, four examples have been preserved – three in Germany and one in Poland. The BR 24 for Train Simulator is available in black livery and features cab lighting, accurately recreated steam simulation (including simulated boiler explosion) and functioning PZB90 in- cab signalling, plus custom route assets including a loco shed, water crane and coaling & sanding tower. The 1950s, Germany's railway future was in full swing, wires were being erected across key routes for brand new electric locomotives, and the first 5 pre-production units of the famous diesel V200s were in operation. It would seem that the steam days were numbered throughout Germany, but Deutsche Bundesbahn saw a different future for the classic traction. While electric locomotives were proving successful on their new routes, both the pre- production, and production V200s were suffering greatly from reliability problems, and were less efficient than the steam-powered BR 01. This meant that unelectrified routes would be left with questionable traction for the time being, and that simply wouldn't do. It was decided that this set back was reason enough to place an order for a new locomotive, while developments had been made to the BR 01, forming the BR 01.10 initially, even this left DB with uncertainty, and a brand-new design would be ushered in to provide. Power over innovation was the main drive in what would become the BR 10's design and construction, only a few high-tech advancements were utilised as Krupp focused on reusing parts, such as the proven boiler from the modified BR 01.10. The 4-6-2 Pacific design was settled upon, as the originally proposed Prairie was not suitable. A total of 2 pre-production locomotives were built, 10 001 and 10 002, and while mainly similar, 10 001 was built as a hybrid-firing locomotive, taking both coal and oil in the newly designed 2'2′ T 40 Tender. 10 002 featured oil-only firing, and 10 001 would one day be refitted in such a manner. The new BR 10 locomotives rolled out of the production line in 1957, very late as far as steam is concerned, and was ready for testing and main line operation throughout the unelectrified routes in Germany. Thanks to the stylised streamlining up front, the BR 10 was expected fulfil its role with flying colours, as the twins could easily gallop at 140 km/h with a full train. In reality, very much the opposite would ring true, while they were fantastic locomotives, their operational limitations left a lot to be desired. It was already pretty much decided by 10 001 and 10 002's completion that they would not be followed by a production fleet, the order was cancelled. If it weren't for that, their limitations would have put an end to future models; the BR 10 featured an astounding 22 tonne axle load, and while this had the benefit of putting down some serious power onto the rails – it would be unlikely that they would slip in any circumstances, hauling any weight – there were very few routes that could accommodate such a heavy locomotive. Frankfurt, Kassel and Hanover were 3 locations that 10 001 and 10 002 could serve in early service, with both locos being based at Bebra Bf from 1958 until 1962, by which time they were moved to Kassel. In rare cases, the BR 10s could be specially permitted to run on railway lines with a 21 tonne axle load, this was the only way they could reach Münster in their later days. The BR 10s spent many days in the workshop lusting for repair, being essentially the last of their kind, spare parts were hard to come by, and the older BR 01.10 was used more frequently where steam traction was still required. Sadly, the 1960s would mark the end of the BR 10s in operation, cylinder damage would put 10 002 out of service indefinitely by January 1967, and 10 001 would join her sister in retirement by June of the following year. Once out of service, the two locos went on to quite different lives; 10 002 was used as a heating locomotive for maintenance depots and stations until 1972, when she was sadly scrapped at the Offenburg Repair Shop. 10 001 on the other hand, luckily survived the cutters torch, and after acting as an exhibition locomotive, found a comfortable home at the German Steam Locomotive Museum at Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg, Northern Bavaria. Despite half the fleet being non-existent today, and the one remaining locomotive being in preservation, the DB BR 10 for Train Simulator, lovingly represented by Partner Programme member Romantic Railroads, will unlock the experience of what it was like to populate the footplate of these classic Black Swans, complete with period mainline rolling stock for the ultimate in German steam era authenticity. Ключевые особенности • Authentic and prototypical simulation of the DB BR 10 • Advanced simulation of locomotive priming and boiler explosion dynamics • Opening smokebox door and maintenance routines • Accurate and highly detailed footplate featuring fully functional I60 and PZB 90 safety systems and much more • Authentic period mainline rolling stock • Fully operational coal bunkers, water cranes, oil supply cranes and water tower • Challenging career scenarios for the Hamburg to Hanover route • Quick Drive compatible Сценарии The DB BR 10 Steam Loco Add-on includes four challenging career scenarios for the Hamburg to Hanover route: • Becoming friend with the DB class 10 • Now the Oil is burning • Evening Journey in Autumn • The Oil will make us go south- Подробное описаниеРазработчик/издатель: virtualRailroads/Dovetail Games | Язык дополнения: английский и немецкий | Год выпуска: 10 ноября 2017 | Совместимость: Train Simulator (только пиратка)-Если вам понравилось это дополнение, вы можете приобрести его в цифровом магазине Steam.- The powerfully competitive, and superbly detailed, DB BR 151 arrives for heavy-freightoperations in Train Simulator courtesy of Partner Programme developer Virtual Railroads Germany: the growing road freight market of the late 1960s quickly presented itself as a threat to railway freight traffic. The need for a fiercer competitor from the Deutsche Bundesbahn was soon apparent, and it was decided that the best solution would be a fleet of all-new electric locomotives dedicated to hauling freight. The term 'all-new' however proved to be quite flexible, time was of the essence, and the new arrivals would be heavily based on the older DB BR 150. In fact, some of the earliest proposals simply involved up-rating and tweaking the traction motors of the BR 150 to cope with 120 km/h performance. In theory, this would have solved the traction problem, but enhanced BR 150s could only haul heavy freight expresses at a maximum of 100 km/h, not ideal for any viable competition. Much more powerful equipment from other designs were soon drafted into the plan, and so was a new bogie to take the weight increase. Eventually a new locomotive was finalised, and DB BR 151 No. 001 rolled off the production line in November 1972. A further 10 locomotives would follow, and this initial batch would be subject to rigorous testing before the full order was met. When new, the DB BR 151 fleet, which would amass to 170 locomotives, were capable of both passenger and freight work, although the former is no longer possible due to changes in mandatory systems. Where the 118 tons powerhouses found their calling however was on the heavy ore trains. A total of 20 locomotives were retrofitted with the sturdy 'Unicoupler AK69e' coupling system, which could facilitate the BR 151s on the 6000-ton ore trains, a weight too heavy for standard screw couplings. Today, the remaining fleet is owned by various operators as newer traction has surpassed the might of the DB BR 151, but the heavy-hauling veteran has something of a pedigree about it; a call back to a time of classic design and raw power, and the story of the DB BR 151 is yours to continue in Train Simulator!
