Отзывы игра получила столь положительные, что разработчик (а он один-единственный — Мэтт Торсон) решил плюнуть на такую сомнительную эксклюзивность и отправился покорять PC и PS4 с улучшенной и дополненной версией. TowerFall Ascension — прославленная игра на искусство стрельбы из лука. Вдохновленная классическими хитами с "диванным" мультиплеером. Основной акцент в игре ставится на забавные и в то же время напряженные соревнования. Основные принципы механики просты и доступны, но мастерства достичь не так уж легко, учитывая ожесточенность битв. это один из тех случаев, когда об игре не стоит судить по внешнему виду или нескольким первым уровням. Это именно та история, когда простая концепция получает развитие с каждым новым этапом, а многочисленные модификации способны коренным образом изменить понимание общих принципов состязания и совершенствовать ваш игровой стиль. Именно здесь с каждым новым раундом вы открываете для себя какие-то новые элементы или меняете устоявшееся ведение поединка. Что самое главное - навязшая в зубах мода на 8-битность в случае с TowerFall: Ascension не вызывает привычного отторжения. Именно в ретро-стиле с примитивным звуковым сопровождением игра выглядит максимально органично. Механика игры очень простая: вы выбираете одного из четырех героев, у каждого из которых есть лук с тремя стрелами и прыжок. Все сражения происходят в двухмерном лабиринте, где верх и низ связаны между собой, позволяя быстро перемещаться из одной точки карты в другую. Противники появляются в разных углах уровня и сражаются до полного уничтожения, используя как ловкость рук, так и многочисленные бонусы и специальные возможности. Улучшенные стрелы могут просверливать твердые поверхности или подрывать врага по заранее установленному таймеру. Защитное поле сохранит одну жизнь, а крылья помогут уйти от внезапной атаки. Противников можно уничтожать как используя стрелы, так и просто запрыгивая на голову. С каждым новым этапом могут меняться условия внешней среды, замедляя или ускоряя время или делая отдельные части уровня смертельно опасными. В режиме противостояния TowerFall: Ascension поддерживает до четырех игроков на одной приставке. Режим истории предлагает уже двух игроков, которые должны выдержать серию волн против местного искусственного интеллекта, который предпочитает разуму силу и количество. Но это не значит, что TowerFall: Ascension простая игра - каждый новый этап приносит массу сюрпризов и, если учесть наличие паттернов, то многое роднит этот проект с Dark Souls, где смерть является главным опытом, а запоминание ключевых механик остается основой успешного игрового процесса. И потеря концентрации здесь также смертельна. Прибавьте к этому сложные трофеи (для бронзы необходимо сыграть 20000 раундов в Versus) и вы получите одну из самых вызывающих игр этого года. Единственное, что огорчает: отсутствие глобального многопользовательского режима, мелкие огрехи, однотипность музыки и небольшое количество самих уровней. Но это уже скорее всего проблема маленького бюджета у единственного программиста проекта.

This is known as “dodge stalling” You can now catch arrows when you have a shield, but only if the arrow is not in a dangerous state (ie it would not hurt you anyways) Arrows are no longer destroyed when crushed by moving solids Arrow inventories are now visible during the round intro Treasure changes: Decreased the chance of no treasure spawning The chance of getting special arrows out of a treasure chest is now normalized. In most towers, there is a 60% chance each chest has a special arrow pickup, chosen from the possible types for that level No more than one of each orb pickup can spawn per level now. If the Chaos Orb spawns, no other orbs will spawn The amount of each upgrade powerup (Wings, Looking Glass, Speed Boots) that can spawn per round is now capped by the amount of archers Added a particle effect for hyper jumping to make it more readable Archers will now slip off ledges while ducking, if they’re on the ledge by 3 or less pixels.
