Famous for its Ribblehead Viaduct and stunning scenery, the Settle-Carlisle line has long been a favourite amongst rail fans – especially since it famously escaped closure in the late 1980s. It is also well-known as a triumph of engineering against the odds, as a huge workforce was assembled to work in extremely tough conditions. The line is home to some dramatic constructions, such as the Ribblehead Viaduct and Blea Moor Tunnel, and rises to the highest point on the British main line at 1,169 feet (356m) above sea level. The line endured and won a five-year battle against closure in the late 1980s, and has since remained a favourite with enthusiasts who come from far and wide to ride on the line every year. Now you can drive trains along this inspiring stretch of line, battling the gradients through the 'three peaks' and admiring the views as you drive over (and sometimes beneath) this wonderful landscape. With modern and preserved locomotives to drive, there is something for everyone on the Settle-Carlisle. Interest in steam specials has grown since before the final phasing out of British steam on the main line, when enthusiasts would flock to ride on specials – sometimes little more than a few old brake vans behind a steam loco – to enjoy a steam-hauled journey before diesel and electric took over for good. This practice continues today, as privately-owned steam locomotives are granted permission to run special services on the main line to the delight of passengers and onlookers alike. With four preserved steam locomotives to drive, you can run rail tours along the wonderful Settle-Carlisle line whenever you wish. Settle-Carlisle Specials includes the famous A1 Tornado in British Railways Brusnwick Green, V2 Green Arrow, GWR Wootton Hall and GWR King Edward II in blue. British Railways' 'Pilot Scheme' to replace steam traction saw 20 Type 2 diesel locomotives built by Brush Traction in 1957. These development locomotives were fitted with Mirrlees engines and had a top speed of 80mph, designed for mixed traffic workings on the Eastern Region. Midway through production, BR decided to extend the fleet, ordering a further 243 locomotives that entered service by the end of 1962. The main production locomotives were adapted slightly from their predecessors and underwent a programme of re-engineering in 1964 to replace the unreliable Mirrlees engines with higher rated, more powerful English Electric engines. The Class also made its way into other regions of the railway network, becoming a popular sight on both the Western and London Midland regions. With the demise of British Rail, Class 31s were gradually retired and scrapped, although many were bought by private operators including EWS, Fragonset Railways and Mainline Rail. Network Rail still maintains a small fleet of the Class for test and engineering trains. The Class 31 for Train Simulator is available in BR Railfreight Sector livery (with and without mini snow ploughs) and BR Green livery, and features include upgraded TSX features, two- tone horn, cab lighting, BR Mk1 coaches and Sealion ballast hoppers. Ключевые особенности • Class 31 in BR Railfreight Sector and BR Green liveries • Upgraded TSX effects • Two-tone horn • Cab lighting • BR Mk1 coaches with passenger view • Sealion ballast hoppers • Quick Drive compatible • Scenarios for the Settle to Carlisle route Сценарии Three scenarios for the Settle to Carlisle route: • Class 31 Tutorial • Carlisle Special • Ribblehead Ballast-

Fifty of the Class were built in the late 1960s by English Electric at Vulcan Foundry Works and were exclusively used on the then non-electrified West Coast Main Line between Crewe, Carlisle and Scotland. Prior to TOPS classification, the Type 4 locomotives had a top speed of 100mph, being re-classified to the Class 50 and purchased from English Electric Leasing by British Rail in the early 1970s. After electrification of the WCML, the Class 50s were displaced and transferred to the Western Region, working mainline passenger services from London Paddington along the Great Western Main Line. However, the Class was beset with reliability problems and BR made the decision to refurbish all 50 locomotives in the late 1970s. Whilst this temporarily resolved the reliability issues, by the early 1990s, just eight locomotives remained in service. By 1994, the whole fleet had been withdrawn from service, but 18 were preserved and can today be found mainly on the UK's heritage railways with many still certified for mainline running and used to head rail tours. The Class 50 for Train Simulator, developed by Meshtools, is available in a variety of BR and privatised liveries, including BR Blue (TOPS and Pre-TOPS), Great Western Railway Green and BR Dual Green, Network South East Blue (original and revised) and BR Large Logo. Features of the model include independently operated screen wipers, four position reverser, two-tone horn, opening cab windows, operating sun visors and configurable locomotive running numbers and names. Разработчик/издатель: Dovetail Games | Язык дополнения: английский | Год выпуска: 29 августа 2013 | Совместимость: Train Simulator (только пиратка)-Если вам понравилось это дополнение, вы можете приобрести его в цифровом магазине Steam.-The powerful and impressive BR DP1 Deltic evokes the UK's glorious railway heritage, and this attractive prototype diesel locomotive is now available for Train Simulator. The amalgamation of engine manufacturer Napier & Sons and locomotive builder English Electric in 1942 opened up the potential to use the powerful Napier Deltic diesel engine in mainline locomotives. In the mid-1950s, English Electric produced a demonstration locomotive, officially numbered 'DP1', using the Deltic engine, which was to be the forerunner of the well-known 'Deltic' class of locomotives. The DP1 had a particular American feel, with its high sides and streamlined styling, made more prominent by its sleek livery, long aluminium beading, high cab windows and large nose headlight, fitted for effect rather than practicality. Two 18 cylinder Deltic engines were fitted, giving 3,300 horsepower (2,500 kW) in total and a top speed of 90mph. The DP1 was demonstrated and tested on the Settle-Carlisle line before entering service as a main line locomotive alongside its sister Class 55 'Deltics', although these lacked DP1's distinctive look. As a main line locomotive, DP1 had a relatively short working life, being retired in March 1961 after a major engine failure, but easily serving its purpose to demonstrate the Deltic's power and prowess. Two years later, in 1963, DP1 was donated to the Science Museum in London and is now on display at the National Railway Museum's Locomotion site in Shildon, England. The DP1 Deltic for Train Simulator is available in its distinctive blue demonstrator/testing livery, featuring two-tone horn and cab lighting, plus BR Mk1 maroon coaches as used on modern day rail tours, complete with passenger view. Ключевые особенности • BR DP1 Deltic in demonstrator/testing blue livery • Two-tone horn • Cab lighting • BR Mk1 maroon passenger coaches, including First, Second, Restaurant Mini Buffet, Brake Second and Brake Guard • Quick Drive compatible • Scenarios for the Settle-Carlisle route Сценарии Three scenarios for the Settle-Carlisle route: • Breathing New Life • Prelude to a Pioneer • Deltic Highlander-

The Stanier-designed 'Big Lizzies' (as they were often nicknamed by their Enginemen) were an enlarged version of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway's Princess Royal Class. Several examples were original built as streamlined, but this was later removed. They were, quite simply, a beast of British steam traction – the Class was estimated to produce 3,300 horsepower and weighed 105 tons with a coal fuel capacity of nine tons and carrying 4,000 gallons of water. Their prestigious standing saw many of the Class head express steam passenger services across the LMS network from the mid-1930s through to their withdrawal in the mid-1960s. 'Duchess of Sutherland' was outshopped in July 1938 as part of the third batch of her Class. During her 25 years of service, she ran 1.6m miles – the second highest mileage by any member of her Class. The locomotive was withdrawn from mainline service in 1964 but never saw a scrapyard, instead being purchased by a Butlins holiday camp in Scotland and then by a Steam Museum. Since 1996, she has been owned by the Duchess Trust and is in regular use on rail tours across the country. The Duchess of Sutherland for Train Simulator is available in BR Brunswick Green livery and is a former Iron Horse House model, which has been updated to Train Simulator standard, including new scenarios and improved exterior modelling. Features of the locomotive include AWS for mainline running, steam chest pressure gauge, live steam injector steam valve, headlights, cylinder cocks, opening firebox doors, and fireman's and driver's light. Also included are BR Mk1 coaches in maroon livery. Ключевые особенности • LMS Coronation Class 'Duchess of Sutherland' in BR Brunswick Green livery • Steam chest pressure gauge • Live steam injector steam valve • Headlights • Cylinder cocks • Opening firebox doors • Fireman's and driver's light • BR Mk1 coaches in maroon livery • Quick Drive compatible • Scenarios for the Settle-Carlisle route Сценарии Four scenarios for the Settle-Carlisle route: • Training: Duchess Simple Controls • Training: Duchess Expert Controls • Evening Commute to Carlisle • Uphill Battle-

The LMS Coronation Class was a mainline steam locomotive designed by William Stanier and built at Crewe Works between 1937 and 1948. In total, 38 were produced and are the most powerful steam locomotives ever built in the UK, with an impressive 3,333hp - more than the diesel traction that replaced them in later years. The first five locomotives built in the Class were painted in Caledonian Railway blue with sliver stripes to match the coaches for the Coronation Scot service, for which they were designed for. They also featured streamlining, designed by Tom Coleman, the streamlining mainly added as a publicity stunt. However, Stanier believed the added weight, increased difficulty for maintenance and the fact that it just wasn't effective at lower speeds, didn't make it worthwhile. In 1937 during speed trials, Coronation Class No. 6220 reached an impressive 114 mph (183km/h) south of Crewe, setting a new record speed at the time. However, shortly after reaching this speed, the locomotive entered a series of crossover points and with insufficient braking distance, entered the crossover too fast. Fortunately, the locomotive remained on the rails but destroyed most of the crockery inside the coaches. As a consequence, record- breaking runs were deemed too dangerous for passengers, crew and trains alike, and they were subsequently banned. The second batch of five Coronations was also streamlined, apart from the more traditional Crimson Lake with gold stripes livery, one such locomotive being No. 6229 'Duchess of Hamilton'. The 'Duchess' was built in 1938 and was the last in the Coronation Class to be built with streamlining. Nine years later, 'Duchess of Hamilton' had its streamlining removed and smoke deflectors added. Today, three Coronation Class locomotives have been preserved, No. 6229 'Duchess of Hamilton', No. 6233 'Duchess of Sutherland' and No. 6235 'City of Birmingham'. 'Duchess of Sutherland' remains in mainline service on railtours around the UK, while 'City of Birmingham' and 'Duchess of Hamilton' are static displays in museums, the latter alongside LNER A4 Class 'Mallard' at the National Railway Museum in York, resplendent in its original streamlining. The Coronation Class 'Duchess of Hamilton' for Train Simulator is available in LMS Crimson Lake livery with gold stripes, and includes Mk1 passenger coaches in LMS Maroon Lined (late crest) livery.
