Сент-Луис. Нэнси Дрю в очередной раз берётся за расследование дела, на первый взгляд кажущегося совершенно безнадёжным. Её подруга была похищена при странных обстоятельствах: войдя в гримёрку звезды старинного театра, чтобы взять у него интервью для студенческой газеты, она бесследно исчезает. Похоже, кто-то спрятал девушку в этом огромном здании. Вот только у юной сыщицы почти нет времени на то, чтобы отыскать похитителя: этот театр предназначен под снос, и через три дня бульдозеры сравняют здание с землёй, а несчастная жертва театральных интриг будет погребена под обломками.
